Our Farm

Our Plants & Gardens

We grow vegetables, herbs and orchard crops for seasonal harvest, and we breed plants: saving seed, selecting from open-pollinated plantings and making controlled crosses.

Vegetables

Tomatoes, leafy greens and other seasonal vegetables, grown for harvest and for seed.

Culinary herbs

Herbs grown in the garden beds and started in the greenhouse.

Orchard crops

Fruit trees and berry plants at different stages of maturity.

Seed-producing plants

Plants left to flower and set seed so we can keep and replant selections.

Breeding Work in the Garden

Open-pollinated selection: we let plants cross naturally and keep seed from the ones that do best here. Controlled hybridization: we choose parent plants and make deliberate crosses. Selections are grown out again to see which traits carry forward toward a new variety.

Current project: Timothy's variegated kale selection. Seed has been retained for renewed propagation and evaluation.

Seasonal Harvests

Fresh produce, seeds and plants are offered as each season allows, starting with local farmers markets. Availability is posted on Plants & Produce.
